Palladium Technologies announces that its new Apple iPad-based SiMON² ship alarm monitoring application has been nominated by the judges for the prestigious DAME Award.
Last year, Palladium’s iSiMON “app” for the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch devices was the winner of the DAME Award in the “Marine Related Software” category.
“It is a great honor to be selected by the DAME judges as a finalist for the second year in a row,” said Mike Blake, president of Palladium Technologies. “We take great pride in our nearly 20 years of pioneering innovation in alarm, monitoring and control technology for the megayacht industry, and we’re committed to advancing the state of the art through our partnership with companies like Apple.”
Palladium designed SiMON² to be a self-contained system that brings mobile alarm monitoring to smaller yachts, providing much of the functionality of the larger iSiMON with a brand new interface. Palladium has developed a new icon-driven dashboard to facilitate navigation between screens, leveraging the swipe, multi-touch technology of the Apple iPad. SiMON² uses Wi-Fi links with newly designed controllers, which interface to the ship’s engines, generators, tanks, batteries, electric panels and other critical equipment, and presents monitoring data on the Apple iPad with crisp and rich graphic displays.
“The Apple iPad is an incredible device with a high-resolution and multi-touch screen,” said Blake. “Our graphics literally ‘pop’ off the screen, and the multi-touch implementation is very user intuitive.”
The DAME Awards will be presented at the 2010 Marine Equipment Trade Show (METS), which will be held Nov. 16-18 in the Amsterdam RAI convention center. Palladium will be in the Superyacht Pavilion, booth 10.522.
Palladium Technologies has supplied its SiMON integrated monitoring, control and alarm solutions for two of Trinity’s latest megayachts, Motor yacht MiSueno (hull number 45) and superyacht BIG ZIP (hull number 48).
