Austria-based design firm, Sigmund Yacht Design, has proudly unveiled their latest 60-metre mega yacht AU60 concept. Luxury sailing yacht AU60 concept represents a subtle upgrade to the 60m superyacht VESTAR concept. Every surface as well as glass area have been slightly modified to increase performance and to enhance the elegance of the already majestic sailing yacht.
Peter Symonds, Sigmund Yacht Design Director, comments: “The inspiration behind the project was to update our sailing range for this year using simple and elegant lines and to create a pure sailing yacht to capture the imagination of sailing purists.”
We have asked Peter Symonds about the main characteristics of the 60m luxury yacht AU60 design: “The main characteristics are its fast but voluminous hull and its floating superstructure. The structure uses graphic design to cause the eye to see a silver structure floating on a golden hull, the idea being that the yacht is very elegant and balanced.”
The striking AU60 yacht concept boasts the most modern and long lasting materials. This helps to sustain its design ethos. CRP with titanium graphite inserts raise the torsional rigidity of the vessel, whilst reducing mass and building in the longevity that the client requires. To contrast this, the AU60 will be finished in a breath-taking golden paint, which contribute to the appearance of weight as well as value.
In response to our question as to who the new AU60 superyacht concept is suitable for, Peter Symonds, replied: “The design is available to clients and shipyards alike but is aimed at the experienced sailor with an eye for elegance, impeccable taste and simplicity in design.”
The interior design of the beautiful AU60 yacht concept is mainly about the yacht feeling like a home and an oasis away from the world at large. Having more freestanding furniture as opposed to inbuilt results in a domestic character to the AU60 from the interior design. Individual armchairs and bamboo floors add to home feel of the interior.
Peter Symonds comments: “The interior is low key and aims to make any owner or charter guest feel at home. For all guests aboard as well as charter guests the yacht has a great layout for communal areas and entertaining and aims to be less uniform and more domestic than most modern yacht interiors.”
