This year’s J Class Falmouth Regatta was marked by the overall victory of superyacht LIONHEART, recently refitted by Pendennis. The event, which was held from June 23 to 27, saw a dramatic week of racing, played out between the three participating vessels: LIONHEART, charter yacht RANGER and luxury yacht VELSHEDA.
Following sailing yacht RANGER’s victory in the first race on the final morning, all three yachts were separated by a single point – everything was still to play for in the afternoon. The last day of the regatta offered an exciting spectacle for the large spectator fleet. RANGER and VELSHEDA battled throughout the race, but a spinnaker incident between these two helped LIONHEART extend her lead to win not only the last race, but also to reach the overall victory in the regatta.
Measuring 43,4 meters in length, luxury yacht LIONHEART completed her winter refit at Pendennis Shipyard in May 2015, with works including her five-year survey programme as well as exterior paint. The team at Pendennis watched the 5 days of competing unfold with great interest, having hosted each of the yachts at the yard for refit works over the years – LIONHEART this year and in 2012, RANGER in 2006, and VELSHEDA in 2012.
