The majestic Claasen-built LIONHEART yacht has become the overall winner of the J Class Falmouth Regatta, following her sixth and final race victory on Saturday, June 27, 2015. This very exciting race saw charter yacht RANGER and superyacht VELSHEDA go head to head, however LIONHEART sailed smartly and smoothly to ultimately beat RANGER by 42 seconds.
Sailing yacht LIONHEART’s tactician, John Cutler, comments: “As a group we are really pleased to win on this tough race course. It is a spectacle which does not come around often and the boats are awesome.”
Similarly fantastic racing on an even larger scale was seen at the 19th Superyacht Cup in Palma from June 17 to 20, 2015. Claasen was ‘Industry Partner’ for this year’s event, and following three days of thrilling competing, it was the classic ketch Marie who became the overall winner.
Claasen-built superyacht HEARTBEAT claimed a class win during the last year’s Superyacht Cup Palma and overall victory the year before. While they could not quite repeat this great achievement in 2015, the vessel’s crew gave it their all at a regatta, where 21 participants were split across three classes of super-close battles.
