Monday, September 14th, 2015 saw the prestigious Savona-based Italian builder, Mondomarine, celebrate its 100th anniversary. During a prestigious gala event, the shipyard presented the ‘Mondomarine’ book, launched the 42m SF40 motor yacht SERENITY that will be showcased at this month’s Monaco Yacht Show, and celebrated the centennial of the shipyard that was born in 1915 as Cantieri Navali Campanella.
Since 1915, Cantieri Navali Campanella has been a center of excellence in ship and yacht construction and repairing. The milestone for the shipyard represents the famous motor yacht MOHAMEDIA, awarded in 1975 by Lloyd’s Register for the quality and innovation. Later on, the 48m superyacht SHAKE’N BAKE (ex Mary Jean) was delivered. Similarly to MOHAMEDIA, she is still navigating, showing no signs of failures due to the passing of time.
Today, the shipyard’s specialty is the construction of aluminium units, well represented by the 50m explorer charter yacht TRIBU, signed by Luca Dini, with interiors by Studio Lissoni. She was the first vessel to be awarded by RINA with the Green Star Certification for the design’s attention towards the rising concerns of respecting the environment.
The brand Mondomarine was created to sign a line of custom-made, steel and aluminium yachts, measuring over 40m in length. Since 2013, the new owners, Alessandro Falciai, the majority shareholder, and Roberto Zambrini, have promoted a strong restructuring and re-launch of the company. Mondomarine is going through the worldwide market challenges with a new identity, sale of 5 yachts from 40 to 60m in length in build, and with the booster of the recent acquisition of Cantieri di Pisa, the iconic brand of the Italian yachting industry.
