Brazil Yacht Services, the company offering a complete range of yacht services, has unveiled the berthing arrangements for private yachts and charter yachts, attending the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, a fantastic Brazil yacht holiday destination. The first Olympics to be hosted by South America will be held at the Marina de Glória in Guanabara Bay from August 5 to 21, followed by the Paralympics in September 2016.
The company recommends Guanabara Bay (Baía de Guanabara) as the most suitable anchorage zone for superyachts in Rio, with airports (Antônio Carlos Jobim International Airport and Santos Dumont Airport) situated at nearby Galeão. For berthing options, luxury yachts should reach Pier Maua (Porto Maravilha). This is nestled in the Santo Cristo area of Rio in Guanabara Bay, and includes the utilisation for a 200-metre quay.
Limitations for superyachts in the area during the games will include the closure of Marina de Glória for foreign yachts (though the availability of tender drop-off and public access is yet to be announced) and limitations for draught as well as moorings at Rio Yacht Club.
