It has been a great success for two RIVA yachts, the 76’ Perseo coupé yacht and the 88’ Florida convertible open superyacht, at the recent Invictus Yachts Trophies in Cannes. Both superbly penned by Officina Italiana Design, they have won the “Best Exterior Design Trophy” and “Most Achieved Trophy” awards in their respective categories.
Having made their world premiere at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2015, the 76’ Perseo yacht won the 50-80 foot (15-24 metre) category, while the 88’ Florida yacht, a new open that converts to a coupé, has become the winner in the 80-120 foot (24-36 metre) category.
“I am delighted with these awards,” commented yacht designer Mauro Micheli, who co-founded Officina Italiana Design with Sergio Beretta. “I am particularly happy for the studio’s design team as a whole because this achievement is the result of superb team work and confirms we are on the right road. I am not a bit surprised by the 88’ Florida victory: it shoots across the sea like an arrow and is the only boat equipped with the special Ferretti Group-patented system that allows it convert from coupé to cabriolet configuration. It was very quickly and warmly embraced by the market to the point that it has even been purchased as a megayacht tender. I was, however, surprised by the 76’ Perseo: it triumphed on a market crammed with boats, a much tougher segment to conquer. We tried to create a coupé that would be in line with Riva, a craft with a very balanced design for owners that love the sea and want to experience it fully and in complete privacy. Its name is perfect too: Perseus has defeated Medusa once again!”
“We are very flattered to have won four awards for exterior design and best boat with two craft,” added Sergio Beretta. “Event though, of course, the real and most important prize of all is to be appreciated by the market. That’s the greatest challenge for any design studio: to create a product that will appeal to a whole chorus of people. But it seems we have succeeded thanks in part to the qualities guaranteed by the yard which has always been a standard-bearer for Made in Italy excellence.”
Luxury motor yacht Perseo 76 impressed the international jury of sector experts with her eye-catching and sporty yet elegant lines, as well as her lavish owner’s stateroom, which takes up almost half of the lower deck and its 40 square metres of double curved glazing.
Superyacht Florida 88 won the award mainly thanks to her innovative ‘Convertible Top’, which enables her to be both an open and a coupé. Florida 88 is the first vessel to boast this technology, developed by the Bergamo-based design studio and Ferretti Group’s Engineering Division.
