The eagerly awaited launch of the all-new 50m expedition superyacht Y/N 1016 took place this morning at McMullen & Wing’s Auckland shipyard. The brand new vessel was secured at the shipyard’s private marina where it will remain for several days before being moved to Auckland’s Viaduct Harbour.
Y/N 1016 represents the largest ever built by McMullen & Wing and the heaviest yacht launched on their slipway. She boasts an eye-catching sky-blue hull and bright yellow boot stripe with white superstructure and extensive glazing.
Following-on from multi-award-winning 45m BIG FISH, Y/N 1016 is the second in McMullen & Wing’s DIAMOND series, penned by Greg Marshall, who also attended the launch. She will now receive finishing touches and undergo her commissioning and sea trials. Her name will remain under wraps for the time being.
