The 12th Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge will kick off with the Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta, which is to begin tomorrow, 13th April and run through to 19th April. The regatta will see numerous beautiful international vintage and classic sailing yachts race from the Caribbean island of Antigua. The entire Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge will continue until September and cover such popular yachting and yacht charter holiday grounds such as the Mediterranean, North America and the Isle of Wight in Great Britain.
The regatta in Antigua has already more than 40 yachts signed up that are ready to compete in this unmissable event that attracts the globe’s most beautiful classic vessels. The fleet of private as well as charter yachts consists of Vintage, Classic, Traditional, Modern Classic, Spirit of Tradition and Tall Ships categories.
The largest vessel to participate in the regatta is the 65-metre ADIX. She is a three-masted gaff schooner constructed in Spain in 1984. Another stunning and large vessel to compete is the 43-metre COLUMBIA, a replica of the gaff schooner Gloucester. ALEXA OF LONDON is another elegant vessel of 36 metres to take part and represents a gaff cutter constructed in 1992. Other big boats include the luxury charter ketch CHRONOS and schooners ARGO and KAIROS. In addition, REBECCA of 42 metres will be also present, as well as EL ORO, a two-masted built in 1974.
