Italian designer Roberto Curto, presented the new futuristic superyacht concept. Mauna Kea is the name of this 101-metre luxury mega yacht project, which stands out due to its unusual design idea.
Named after a dormant volcano in Hawai, superyacht Mauna Kea features two central water slides, as well as a front staircase leading to the helipad and the aft staircase. Not only the water slide flows into the main swimming pool on the after deck creating an extra wow factor, but all together with the superstructure and staircases, it resembles a massive volcano.
“The main deck from a guest’s point of view is actually the upper deck, giving the feeling of a much larger stern With the dining area located below, you can choose to go up one deck to the main deck or to the beach club /cinema down below,” comments Roberto Curto.
Despite the idea behind Mauna Kea’s design, the superyacht still functions as an opulent vessel, able to accommodate 12 guests and provide them with a large number of lavish amenities. The yacht is large enough also to accommodate 22 crew members who will take care of everything, while guests will enjoy an incredible cruising experience. The owner will enjoy the full-beam private lounge and a private Jacuzzi on the owner’s deck.
Mauna Kea will be able to reach a top speed of 16.5 knots and cruising comfort at 12 knots.
“New ideas are not invented by anyone but are rather born from a client’s necessity. Those needs are then articulated by someone who has a talent to interpret them. In this case I wanted to design a yacht that would conceptually allow guests to “run” from the bow to the aft deck without crossing the interiors and even to travel faster and with maximum enjoyment by sliding from one deck to the other into the refreshing pool as if escaping from an erupting volcano!” – says Curto.
SuperYachtsMonaco is now working with Roberto Curto. Shipbuilder Fincantieri Yachts will consider taking on the construction of the impressive superyacht if a potential client shows interest. If Mauna Kea superyacht project evolves in collaboration with Fincantieri, upon delivery, this yacht will become the third largest ever built by Fincantieri, following Ocean Victory and Serene. She will also become another “Top 100 Largest Superyacht in the World” contender.
Earlier this year Fincantieri unveiled another mega yacht concept, Private Bay, which you can view here. Find out more about Fincantieri Yachts or contact our charter brokers if you wish to charter a luxury yacht built by this shipbuilder.
