ICON 55M Superyacht
‘Creativity is allowing yourself freedom of ideas, good design is knowing which ones to keep’
When challenged to design a ‘concept’ for a client such as ICON this thought always springs to my mind. Our brief was to develop a unique, distinctive design that was modern , yet still timeless.
Working in partnership with ICON yachts has been a long held ambition, and it has been a pleasant journey producing a design that did not relate directly to any previous projects. The aggressive crispness of the exterior styling, combining sweeping curves with chamfers and sharp edges gives the yacht a visually stimulating exterior whilst retaining perfect proportions and a clutter free ‘cleanness’ to the surfaces. Interesting details such as the ‘Plumb’ bow give the design some extra aggressiveness and the large curved windows into the upper deck lounge will flood the space with light, as well as giving superb views from within.” Jonny Horsfield, Owner and Design Director
Featuring large light flooded deck lounges and a superb full beam owner’s suite with recessed balconies this design is offering convincing and spacious luxury spaces. The power efficient hull with the distinct and motion optimized bow shape boasts a moulded beam of 9,8m and a waterline length of 54,4m.
Four guest cabins centred around the glass sided stair case together with VIP on the upper deck and owners suite offers 12 guests. The large exterior deck areas provide superior entertainment and relaxation. A central glass bottom pool clasped by sun pads creates the focal point on the fwd sun deck.
The ICON typical beach club is complimented by a side balcony shell door boosting multiple access points for water sport activities with the army of jet skies, sea bobs and tender discretely hidden in this sleek exterior. Performance-wise, resistance analysis conducted show that the Icon 55m should achieve a 15-knot top speed. At cruising speed, she will offer a range of 4,000 nautical miles.
Built to MCA Large Yacht Code II regulations, the vessel will be constructed in grade A-steel hull and aluminium superstructure and will feature the RINA designation of a ‘Green Yacht Plus’ Label further enhancing the market value.
