Yacht ownership can be fraught with challenges, and after the 30m/98ft superyacht LARA was stripped of her interiors back in 2016, the refit was halted when the interior designer company went bankrupt and vanished into thin air. After a year sitting in a Turkish marina, KRM Refit & Repair collaborated with Italian-based Hot Lab to rescue the refit, and new photos of the resulting glamorous interiors are now available to view.

Originally built by Peri Yachts in 2010, she originally featured interior and exterior styling from Scaro Design and naval architecture by Dixon Yacht Design. The Canada-based Owner berthed her in Turkey for the spectacular Eastern Mediterranean cruising grounds, which he, unfortunately, missed last summer season because M/Y LARA was unfit for use. After a careful and thorough search for a refit company that would return her to her former glory and then update her for 2018, the Owner chose KRM Refit & Repair, who provided a well-defined plan for the entire refit process with interiors and exterior guest areas styled by Hot Lab.

The comprehensive refit over a period of seven months involved the creation or replacement of a number of on board features, including:
- Manufacturing of a new hardtop
- Refurbishing the entire flybridge including new teak decking
- Replacing all canvases and awnings
- Designing and manufacturing a new swim platform
- Hull repaint
- Replacing all exterior and interior lighting
- Complete refurbishment of all interiors
- Installing new entertainment and automated systems, and
- Upgrading of electrical systems
The Owner worked closely with the shipyard to guide the process for a more personalised touch, and the result is a beautifully lit, modern and efficiently laid out interiors that use a natural colour palette.

Within the main salon, floor-to-ceiling panels the forward wall uses back-lit marble for a warm and ambient glow for formal dining between eight guests. Additional floor-to-ceiling panels are placed between the dining table and the generous corner sofa where the group can sink down for conversation or a film on the opposite widescreen TV.

The flybridge is another notable space that was completely redesigned by Hot Lab to include an aft wet bar, seating for lounging and alfresco dining beneath the new hardtop and an area along the stern that can be fitted with sun loungers.
KRM Refit and Repair and Hot Lab expect to be collaborating again in the future after making this Owner’s dream of cruising the Mediterranean again come true in time for the 2018 summer season.
