Model and sportswoman Jodie Kidd will officially open the 2011 Tullett Prebon London International Boat Show on Friday 7 January. A stunning, high adrenaline watersports display on the Show’s new indoor pool will be followed by sports enthusiast Jodie cutting a ribbon and declaring London’s biggest annual boating event open.
Spectators are set to be dazzled with a dramatic sequence of stunts by the Show’s team of watersports stars, who will combine kayaking, wakeboarding and stand up paddleboarding. The impressive 70m x 24m Watersports Action Pool is the Show’s new centrepiece and will be in use throughout the 10 day event, mixing live demos with ‘have a go’ sessions for Show visitors.
Further showbiz glamour will be delivered by X Factor star Rebecca Ferguson who will help launch the new Sunseeker Predator 115 and Manhattan 73 super yachts at the Show. The new boats will be displayed on the marina for visitors to explore. Inside ExCeL, the new Princess 32M – the biggest boat ever to be brought inside – offers an eye-catching showpiece.
This year, 13 boats make their global debut and 23 make their UK debut at the Show. Many marine companies have also chosen the Show to launch a vast range of new products, accessories and services, making it the perfect shop window browsing the latest clothing ranges, chandlery, electronics, engines and more, discovering your local sailing club, enrolling on a course or gathering inspiration for your next holiday.
The Show also brings many of the world’s sailing stars together under one roof. The Knowledge Box is the place to see, hear and learn from the experts of the boating world, including Olympic sailor Mark Covell and Around the World Racer Mike Golding OBE. Other watersports greats include champion wakeboarder Matt Crowhurst and stand up paddle board champion John Hibbard. Three-times Olympic Gold medallist Ben Ainslie will add further calibre to the boating line up.
Andrew Williams, managing director of National Boat Shows said: “The new-look 2011 Tullett Prebon London International Boat Show promises to be an action-packed 10 days and Jodie, with her sporting credentials, along with our host of watersports professionals will provide a fitting opening. The Show returns this year with an array of brand new features, attractions and regular favourites, around 1,000 boats and more than 540 exhibitors, making it an unmissable day out.”
