Benetti has announced that the hull and superstructure for the 65m/213ft luxury yacht FB274 has been joined at its Livorno shipyard in Italy.
The process involved around 30 technical staff, engineers and crane operators, and right from the outset the Benetti team had to plan for a welded bimetal component where the hull and upper section join.
The Lusben team worked in liaison with the shipyard to move the hull from the shed using special trolleys and manoeuvre the 55 tonne superstructure above the hull in the open air using a 500 tonne capacity crane.
The welding work will now take place over the next four weeks, after which fitting work will commence with delivery expected in the first half of 2021.
