Since the launch of sailing yacht SEA EAGLE II at the Royal Huisman shipyard earlier in January, the first carbon composite Rondal Panamax rig has been installed onboard ahead of her sea trials.

Previously known as PROJECT 400, S/Y SEA EAGLE II is the shipyards largest vessel by volume and one of the world’s largest sailing yachts. She is a three-masted schooner measuring 81m/266ft and was sold to an Asian client in 2016 before construction began in Q3 of 2017.

Drone footage shows off her length and layout, with the tender well installed on the foredeck and her extensive 35m/114.8ft flybridge – the size of a luxury yacht by itself. The extensive outdoor areas give plenty of room for alfresco dining, lounging and sunbathing options as well as the possibility for outdoor exercise.

She was built to Lloyd’s MCA (LY-3) standards and the naval architecture and exterior styling come from Dykstra Naval Architects, the team behind the iconic sails of MALTESE FALCON and BLACK PEARL as well as S/Y A and S/Y ATHENA – two more of the world’s largest sailing yachts. Mark Whiteley was also involved in the exterior styling in addition to the interiors, of which concept images show a classic contemporary look using wooden panelled surroundings and monochrome furnishings for effortless modern glamour.

Although information about the interior layout has not been released, it is known that the accommodation is designed for up to 11 guests over five en-suite cabins including the Owners’ suite, and the crew accommodation provides for 14.

S/Y SEA EAGLE II will leave the facilities in Vollenhove and undergo sea trials in the North Sea before being delivered to her owner later this year.
