Following careful consultation with major exhibitors and partners, the organisers of the Singapore Yacht Show (SYS) 2020 have decided to postpone the event, originally scheduled for the 19th to the 22nd of March, to October 2020.
On Friday the 3rd of February the Ministry of Health in Singapore upgraded its Disease Outbreak Response to Orange. To prevent the possible spread of the virus, a new date was being considered for May or October for the 10th-anniversary edition of the SYS.
“Since the situation seems to be escalating rather than levelling off, it is unlikely that travel restrictions and public perception of the health concerns will have eased sufficiently by the end of May to enable us to hold the show in that month,” says the statement from Andy Treadwell, CEO and Founder of the Singapore Yacht Show, “We have little choice therefore but to postpone to October. The exact dates are still in discussion with our host venue, ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove, and we will confirm them as soon as we have agreed with ONE°15 management and all other major partners.”
‘This is an extraordinary situation for which nobody is to blame, of course, but we nonetheless sympathise with all our clients, stakeholders and suppliers for the inconvenience the postponement will cause them. Our own business is going to be significantly affected, too, but we feel we must do our bit to ensure the safety and health of our stakeholders.”
The 10th edition of the Singapore Yacht Show is expected to be the largest version so far, drawing international luxury yacht brands from as close as Asia and the Middle East and as far away as Europe and the Americas. A comprehensive all-ages entertainment programme is planned that offers full immersion and adrenaline-fuelled fun.
