In all of the luxury yacht charter grounds there are few yachts that receive consistently glowing reviews from brokers and charter guests alike, however 54.3m/178.1ft superyacht SPIRIT – available this summer in the Mediterranean – stands out for this reason above similar-sized vessels. This year the team of professional brokers at CharterWorld highly recommends chartering SPIRIT, and here is why.
M/Y SPIRIT was built in 2011 by award-winning Dutch shipbuilders Amels, and is part of the Limited Editions 177 series that gives guests plenty of on board space for quiet relaxation and roaring social occasions. Renowned designer Tim Heywood produced her classic white exteriors, which are matched in elegance by the interiors from Nuvolari Lenard. Best of all is the professional and talented crew of 13, who include a massage therapist, yoga instructor, Dive Master, jet ski instructor and highly trained chefs.
Amenity-packed interiors
The interiors by Nuvolari & Lenard are created for any occasion, whether it’s an informal family gathering or glamorous celebration: Pale fabrics on the contemporary furnishings contrast against medium and dark-toned wooden panelling for understated elegance within the spacious environment. A plush sofa and coffee table invited the group to engage in drinks and conversation at any time of the day, and large windows illuminate the room and ensure that guests have great views of the surrounding scenery while dining at the formal setting.
In contrast, the skylounge is focused on entertainment, and a long sofa, two armchairs, a day bed and a large square coffee table placed in front of the massive wall-mounted widescreen TV. A games console and large film library will keep guests of all ages entertained for hours in the evening, or while cruising between destinations. The spa massage room has a double shower for the convenience of guests who have just finished a work out. The expert masseuse knows a variety of styles for post-workout recovery or restful rejuvenation.
At the end of a busy day exploring the rich culture of the French Riviera, the generous guest accommodation provides a private place to unwind and rest ahead of another adventure-filled day. The accommodation sleeps a maximum of 11 guests over 5 en-suite cabins: 1 Master suite, 2 double cabins, 1 double cabin and 1 twin cabin.
The Master suite boasts a king-sized bed and a private lounge complete with a sofa, armchair, coffee table and desk, and the en-suite bathroom boasts a bathtub for warming up after Scuba diving among the incredible Balearic Islands.
The other guest en-suite cabins are just as welcoming, and all are designed with an abundance of lighting for comfortable on board living after dark.

Heavenly outdoor living
Although the air-conditioned interiors are enticing, life outdoors can be so much more rewarding when you’re anchored in one of the quiet bays along the coast of Sardinia or taking in the views of the Amalfi Coast. The upper deck aft has a grand alfresco dining table shaded by the sundeck overhang for afternoons in the warm summer air and evenings when you don’t want to miss a moment of the sunset.
M/Y SPIRIT has a large swim platform for guests to board the tender with ease and to spread out while getting ready for snorkelling and Scuba diving activities. The area can also be used for sunbathing beside the water, however the sundeck has the best place on board to take in the sunshine with a large forward Jacuzzi surrounded by a fan-shaped sunbed, and another large sunbed close to the stern. A bar will provide refreshments throughout the day, and across the decks the group has a choice of sumptuous lounges for outdoor living and casual dining.
A hoard of water toys
Superyacht SPIRIT is a PADI Certified Dive Centre and an Approved RYA Water Sports Centre to give guests the option of earning a Scuba diving and jet ski licence during their stay on board.
Brokers and guests alike are impressed by the massive collection of water toys available, as well as the powerful tender on board known as ‘THE BEAST’. The collection includes:
- Waverunners
- Seabobs
- windsurfers
- paddleboards
- water skis
- a water slide
- Scuba diving equipment
- snorkelling equipment
- fishing equipment
- beach games, and
- inflatable and towable toys
When it’s not convenient to use the water toys, there is a comprehensive gym onboard for guests to keep up a fitness regime.
