Heesen have begun North Sea trails for 55m (180’5”) superyacht IRIS BLUE – previous known as Project Apollo. Her design is an evolution from the previous Heesen 55m Steel Class and she is first to be built with the new updated exterior lines. With fewer mullions on the floor-to-ceiling windows in the main salon plus tinted windows throughout give her a more aggressive look along the length of her profile.
Her Fast Displacement Hull design is a collaboration between Naval Architects Van Oossanen, exterior designer Omega Architects and Interior designer Luca Dini Design & Architecture. She can accommodate up to 12 guests in a six-stateroom configuration with her upper deck owner’s suite featuring a French (or Juliette) balcony.
Other interior highlights include a wide staircase in the atrium from the sun lounge to the sundeck allowing the crew to deliver seamless guest service. Meanwhile on deck, the new design boasts an extended sun deck and now features a wrap-around bar and a whirlpool jacuzzi.
Power comes from twin MTU engines which deliver a top speed of 16.5 knots and a cruising speed of 13 knots.
We hope that IRIS BLUE and her crew are coping with the extremes of the North Sea in January!
