Sailing yacht AGAVE has been launched by French shipyard Gunboat as the second hull in their 24.65m (80’8″) Gunboat 80 catamaran series. The carbon fibre yacht is a collaboration between naval architect VPLP Design, exterior designer Patrick Le Quément and interior designer Chedal Anglay Design.
She is a performance yacht at heart and has been built for an experienced owner whose brief also required her to perform as a family cruiser. Her precision design can deliver top speeds of over 30 knots and can sail in wind speed from a mere 5 knots. The custom spars package by Lorima features a 31-metre rotating mast, box boom with outriggers, longeron, and crossbeam – all constructed in pre-preg, autoclave cured, high modulus carbon fibre. The coachroof-stepped mast is positioned relatively further aft than previous Gunboat designs, for a more balanced sail plan and centre of gravity.
Luxury yacht AGAVE features lifting, retractable T-rudders designed to give a smooth journey both underway and at anchor, plus a minimum draft of 1.3 metres making her perfect for cruising and anchoring in shallow waters around the world.
She can accommodate up to eight guests in three VIP and one twin suite plus separate cabins for the three crew members. The flow from the main salon into the aft cockpit is excellent and the galley up design creates a great family layout.
She is due for delivery in summer 2024 after her technical and sea trial are complete.
