The owners of 29m (95’4″) explorer yacht PAPILLON were delighted to engage with Bering Yachts founder Alexei Mikhailov and offer Yachts for Science and Mission Blue the opportunity to use the motor yacht on a research expedition.
The team of researchers were kept safe and comfortable on board as they conducted their marine conservation work in Silver Bank, Dominican Republic – a protected breeding and calving area for the North Atlantic humpback whale. The team were keen to document their work and travelled with a team of photographers and videographers who captured footage as they collected DNA samples, identified individual whales and swam amongst these majestic creatures.
Explorer yachts are built to be capable in extreme environments and are often designed to minimise noise and vibration pollution plus reduce fuel consumption – ideal to minimise environmental impact. Motor yacht PAPILLON was the perfect host with plenty of deck space for observing the surroundings, comfortable interiors where the team could conduct scientific discussions over dinner and four luxurious suites to ensure a good night’s sleep was had by all.
