Successful season opener in Northern Germany. After closing, the hanseboot ancora boat show reported a new record high of displayed boats and strong interest in its extended supporting program. The four day event took place from May 26-29, 2011 in the ancora Marina in Neustadt. More than 140 Motor and Sailboats were on display and enthusiastic visitors used the show days to gather live experience on boats and with equipment, accessories and services offered on land and water. hanseboot ancora has become Germany’s largest “floating“ boat event and provided the ideal setting to kick off the 2011 water sport season.
“The hanseboat ancora boat show provided a rare opportunity to test a broad range of boats and yachts under life conditions, a dream come true for many water sport enthusiasts. The extended supporting program showed a wide array of exciting new water sports applications. We are confident that the live demonstrations during this weekend were able to engage many new enthusiasts and inspired them to take up water sports in the future. For us, this event was an absolute success“, said Bernd Aufderheide, President and CEO Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH.
Highlights of the water sports program were a personal flying machine powered by a 4-stroke engine called “JetLev“, the live-demonstration of a Search & Rescue helicopter in unison with the Sea Rescue vessel “Hans Hackmack“ and freestyle windsurfers in action. Helpful hints and practical exercises were conducted featuring rigging techniques and water safety and recovery service.
The main attractions of the event were the 140 swimming exhibit pieces reflecting the depth of the European Boat and Yacht Industry. “Our cooperation with hanseboot was twofold. To grow our event in size and to add educational elements. We are excited to say that we fully achieved both goals already in the first year of this cooperation,“ said Oliver Seiter, Managing Director of the ancora Marina GmbH & Co. KG. “We were able to increase our exhibitor base and the number of new boats presented at the In-Watershow. Many exhibitors met strong consumer demand and the prospects for future orders from our event are excellent. Visitors were drawn from an area that spanned from Flensburg to Berlin and down to Frankfurt.“ Suppliers and service providers who exhibited in 60 tents at the pier, praised the high quality and expertise of the attending public.
The first show day provided a moment of shock when in the evening a strong wind gust ripped the moorings of three tents slightly injuring five people who were treated on site. Due to the challenging weather situation, attendance was slightly below the 15.000 visitors recorded at the previous event in 2010. The next hanseboot ancora boat show will take place from May 31 until June 3, 2012.
