The 77 metre Superyacht ‘Weta’, also known as hull U-77, arrived in Auckland recently to be fitted out. Motor yacht ‘Weta’ started to be built in Chile and is to be finished in New Zealand. The explorer style motor yacht requires complete interior and exterior fitting and will be one of the largest superyachts ever to be fitted out in New Zealand. The yacht is owned by superyacht owner Graeme Hart who also owns yacht Ulysses and the much smaller catamaran U-21.
Specialist Marine Interiors (SMI) are one of the New Zealand companies working on the confidential hull U77 project – Motor Yacht WETA is a 77 metre luxury superyacht built under the project name U.77. Her construction started in Chile and the completion took place in New Zealand. The explorer motor yacht Weta bears her name after a large robust New Zealand grasshopper like insect with some species being the largest and heaviest in the world. More on motor yacht Weta.
Nautical Contracting is another marine company working on the expedition superyacht and the company typically undertakes a variety of refit and new vessel teak decks.
Little else is presently known about M/Y Weta (project yacht U77), such as the yacht designer or naval architect, and further information and images will be published following her official launch and delivery.
