The Marinas 2011 International Marinas Conference and Exhibition is being held in Melbourne 20 – 22 June. With just days to go the Marinas 2011 Committee Chairman Mike Harvey is confident the international event will again live up to expectations and deliver a program that addresses the current needs of the marina sector. “We are still getting a steady flow of registrations from industry and government. In the last week we had three more exhibitors sign up. They all recognised the opportunity for cost effective 1 on 1 meetings with marina operators will not come around again for two years until Marinas 2013”.
“The continuing global uncertainty has impacted on the number northern hemisphere registrations and exhibitors although we still have representation from eight countries. The conference program will enable local delegates to benefit from the wisdom and strategies of northern hemisphere speakers who are needing to work harder to protect their bottom line” he said.
International speakers include Joe Ueberroth, President and Managing Partner of Bellwether Financial Group Inc which has extensive marina assets in the USA and overseas and Bill Yeargin, President and CEO of Correct Craft Inc. in the USA. One respected USA industry publication has described Correct Craft as being “on an aggressive improvement path the likes of which the marine industry has never seen.” Other international presenters include Gary Groenewold, Vice President Southern Areas for Westrec Marinas. He is responsible for all its operating issues, business development and acquisitions throughout Florida, the Caribbean and South and Central America.
Mick Bettesworth is Managing Director of MDL Estates, the largest marina operator in Europe. These speakers will share with conference delegates what they have learned from two tough trading years since Marinas 2009 and outline successful strategies for 2011 and beyond.
