Icon Yachts are scheduled to complete their fourth superyacht, the 62m Midlandia motor yacht by Spring 2012. With a sleek steel hull and aluminium superstructure the motor yacht MIDLANDIA measures 62.00 metres (203.41 ft) in length. Superyacht Midlandia featuers Naval Architecture by Jouke van der Baan exterior design by the Redman Whiteley Dixon Ltd and interior design Cristiano Gatto Design.
Cristiano Gatto Design Studio has been working closely with the client since the Midlandia projects inception and created a sophisticated design with a touch of Zen.
The main influence on this customized ICON layout reflect the owner’s needs to create wide entertainment areas, both formal and informal, to share with his guests, but it also reflects his need to allow himself roomy spaces for his own privacy.
The double aspect is reflected in the 17 metre long main saloon or in the outdoor and indoor saloons and in addition in the owner’s cabin. This is achieved over two decks with a direct staircase link to the panoramic saloon on the forward upper deck for moments of family privacy.
“The owner’s requirement was to create sober but elegant spaces, simple yet noble in their finishing. Far from excessive ostentations, the studio has chosen a “contemporary classic” style, where richness is shown in the details. The pleasure of discovering surprising touches over time. Such as the novel choice of Citron Tree for the wardrobe interiors, this perfumes linen and stimulates olfactory sensations. Refinement is also in the choice of woods, like Mahogany, Rosewood, Ebony and Walnut Canaletto, all with glossy finishing and balanced by the presence of natural stones treated with oils such as Spanish natural stone. It is the priceless luxury of simplicity, the elegance of enjoying the essential, but also the preciousness of materials such as saddle leather and galouchat. ”
