Moonen Shipyard is currently building a Moonen 100 Explorer motor yacht for a repeat client. The Moonen 100 Explorer will be the fourth expedition yacht built by the yard. The Moonen 100 Explorer yacht features naval architecture and interior design by Vripack, with interior engineering by Moonen. Built under the yard number YN195 is built with a steel hull and an Aluminium superstructure.
The 31m Moonen 100 Explorer is a 2 deck displacement motor yacht that is able to accommodate up to 6 guests in three double guest cabins plus two double crew cabins. The yacht features a flybridge and a swimming platform as well as a gym located in the lazzarette. The owners of this particular expedition yacht plan to spend extended time on board and as such are quite involved in the build and design process.
The long range explorer type motor yacht has a bulbous bow that will ensure good seakeeping and fuel consumption. The Moonen 100 Explorer superyacht will feature twin 609-hp Caterpillar engines enabling the yacht to attain a 13-knot maximum speed at 10-percent load and 12-knot cruising speed at 50-percent load @ 1650 rpm. The Moonen 100 Explorer will have a 5,000-mile range, at the speed of 10 knots. The yachts shallow draft of 2.18 meters (7 ft) will enable shallow anchoring in bays and natural anchorages.
The new Moonen 100 Explorer yacht will be Lloyds-classed and MCA-compliant, with a delivery expected in 2012.
Moonen Yachts have collaborated with Vripack in the past on the explorer type motor yachts Doggersbank Offshore 99′ and the Bradford Offshore 92′ motor yacht and the Bradford Offshore 90′
