The International Exhibition of technology, subcontracting and design for boats, mega yachts, superyachts and ships confirms its appeal and increases its scope of exhibitors and visitors taking place alongside the third Compotec
Despite the difficult economic climate, Seatec 2010 was a successful event with substantially stable figures compared to 2009 and a relatively “relaxed” atmosphere in the aisles on the stands compared to previous months in the industry.
The eighth International Exhibition of technology, subcontracting and design for boats, mega yachts and ships managed in fact to record excellent results: quality of the visitors, trust on behalf of the shipyards and an excellent product range characterised the 753 exhibitors (including 35% from abroad) and the 8.754 visitors (including 5% from abroad) certified by the ISF (Institute for the Certification of Trade Fair statistics) that took part occupying an area of 34.000 sqm.
After Seatec 2010, the organising secretariat is already working on the ninth year, paying much attention to the current nautical market trends. According to the analysis by the industry experts, these should confirm the faint signs of recovery, with a more significant increase in the period 2011-2013, thereby coinciding with the next exhibition, due to be held from 16 to 18 February 2011.
The nautical industry is a strategic industry for the made in Italy brand that invests resources in new production strategies based on advanced technology, materials, design and elegance which continue to guarantee our Country’s leadership in the yacht and mega yacht building industry.
In order to compete on the international markets it is important for Italian shipyards of all sizes to design with a view to reducing production and running costs as well as being more concerned for the environment, now a decisive factor in production.
It is in this light that Seatec is working, with renewed energy, to consolidate and extend its product range, guaranteeing its professional visitors an even more specialised B2B event: three days from Wednesday to Friday – of meetings, updatings and discussions on the most innovative products available in the commercial and pleasure boat building industry, conferences, workshops, seminars on technical issues and awards for nautical design, including first and foremost the MYDA, the Millennium Yacht Design Award, that has become particularly well-known and appreciated by Italian and foreign design practices.
The main new feature of Seatec 2011 will be the fact that it is to be held together with Compotec, the 3rd International Exhibition of composite materials and related technology, the first and only international event in Italy focussing entirely on the use of these materials in a wide variety of industries. All exhibitors, and in particular those that have customarily exhibited at Seatec in the area of nautical composites, will be able to meet operators from the aeronautics, automobile, transport, building, energy, medicine, sport and design industries too. This change is expected to bring specific advantages both to Exhibitors and Visitors.
In preparation for the next important event the site for the event has been totally renewed, which has made it easier and faster to navigate and has added new content as well as the launch of the Nautical design competitions 2011:
The afore mentioned MYDA, in its eighth year, with a new section entitled “Dream Boat”, the 17th “Targa Rodolfo Bonetto”, open to students and fresh graduates from all over the world on themes related to technological innovation (average-sized sailing or motor boats) and infrastructures (renovation project for the tourist port in Santa Margherita Ligure) and the ever popular “Abitare la Barca”, that for the fifth year running will see the participation of university students with the “live” execution of their projects over two days on the theme of open boats, a new take on the traditional fishing boat.
There are a constantly increasing number of entrants to the award set aside for Exhibitors only, the Qualitec Technology award, for the product showing the most advanced technological innovation, and the Qualitec Design award, with an accent on design excellence. The side events and conferences will also be on important issues for the industry. On a technical side welding, composite materials, security, regulation updatings, building techniques, disposal and the environment; on the cultural side conferences relating to design and ergonomics, seminars held by the winners of the design competitions, prize-giving ceremonies and the presentation of publications.
Among the many events there will also be B2B meetings organised at the Italian Trade Commission (ICE) space, over 400 this year, to the great satisfaction of operators and companies, many of whom had follow-up visits to their stands.
Once again the exhibition area will divided up by themes
Materials & Applications – new area for 2010 – Technology, Accessories & Services,
Marine Engines & Propulsion, Design & Furnishings with Abitare il Mare, Electronics& Home Automation, Port Equipment, Sailing Equipment, Design & Engineering, Media.
At just one month from the opening of registration for the ninth Seatec, due to be held from 16 to 18 February 2011, over 35% of Exhibitors have already confirmed their presence, thereby confirming the value of the event that in under 10 years has become an indispensable professional event. See you then at Seatec 2011, from 16 to 18 February!
