Superyacht Support Infrastructure in 2012:
As a primary partner of BAE Systems Surface Ships Ltd the company has contractual approval to utilise the dry-dock infrastructure within HM Naval Base Portsmouth for Superyacht projects, support and dockings.
Burgess Marine and BAE Systems entered into a formal agreement in 2009, governed by a Memorandum of Understanding, which allows Burgess Marine to either act as a primary contractor and / or a preferred supplier; hence allowing the yacht, yacht management company, or owners representative to either contract Burgess Marine, or BAE Systems, for their marine engineering works and / or dry-docking within the Portsmouth naval footprint.
The footprint offers six useable docks; 2 x dry docks 255m x 30m, 1 x dry dock 186m x 28m, 1 x dry dock 140m x 24m, 1 x dry dock 133m x 24m and 1 x dry dock 121m x 21m, and has excellent availability throughout the 2012 season. The facility is state of the art, and all external sub-contract parties are free to work on the site. Burgess Marine will be available to support the Superyacht Cup, the J Class regatta, and the Superyacht fleet on, and around, the Thames, in partnership with MGMT, during the summer 2012 Olympic period. The Portsmouth facility is ideal for both planned Class certified dockings or emergency repairs.
