The European Patent Office has officially and definitively accepted the CMC Marine European patent application request regarding electrical fin stabilization system, known as Stabilis Electra. The first superyacht to be equipped with the Stabilis Electra was the luxury motor yacht Sanlorenzo 82, built by the renowned Italian shipyard, Sanlorenzo.
The patent has been issued for an “Automatic system for anti-roll stabilization of watercraft” and is valid for all the European countries, among the others Italy, Great Britain, Holland, France, Turkey and many others, for a 20-year period. CMC Marine is therefore the only company authorized to produce, distribute and sell the above mentioned stabilization system within Europe, including the necessary custom protections.
This important achievement is the best acknowledgement for the innovation activity and R&D developments CMC Marine has pursued since its foundation. The yachting industry already gave this recognition to CMC Marine products. In fact, since the introduction of the Stabilis Electra prototype at the Genoa Boat Show 2008 the market had responded positively.
In early 2009, CMC Marine was awarded with the Qualitec Technology Award 2009 special mention and at the same time the first orders were given and in 2010 the first yacht equipped with the Stabilis Electra, the luxury yacht Sanlorenzo 82, were launched. In October 2011 the range was expanded with new models suitable for superyachts and in November 2011 the company was awarded with the prestigious “Dame” award for the category “Machinery, propulsion, mechanical and electrical systems and fittings” at the opening of METS 2011.
The CMC Marine CEO, Alessandro Cappiello said: “We are very proud for these results: this achievement on one hand, can make happier our actual customers who have already supported us in our innovation process, and that we here would like sincerely thank and on the other hand can represent a strong motivation for all other industry players, such as shipyards, shipowners, designers, to install our systems and evaluate by themselves the unique advantages and capabilities they offer.”
