The 6th edition of the Antibes Yacht Show continues demostrating support and protecting the environment. The Show has renewed its collaboration with ECOsuperyacht, therefore the CO2 emissions due to the show will be offset.
ECOSUPERYACHTS
ECOsuperyacht works closely with the Antibes Yacht Show in choosing carbon credits from projects in the developing world with high local social and economic benefits, as well as ensuring that the projects chosen for the carbon offsets are properly certified.
The English company is lead by Richard Franklin. Their first focus is to help owners to get the most from their yacht with the least amount of energy and pollution, before even offsetting the remaining carbon emissions. They can recommend to owners how they can save fuel, thus money, that´s of growing importance these days!
HEPBURN BIO YACHT CARE
The 2012, Antibes Yacht Show also welcomes a new global exhibitor Hepburn Bio Yacht Care, who is providing the show´s cleaning team with its bio degradable cleaners and who is also offering a free sample pack to the larger yachts exhibiting at the show.
With nearly 150 yachts at the show, the challenge is an important one, owners and captains will be looking critically at the efficiency of the non-toxic, non-corrosive products supplied by Hepburn which are already being used by the 164m motor yacht Eclipse, the 113m superyacht Le Grand Bleu and many more yachts committed to protecting our oceans, their crew and their owners investment.
All products are super concentrated to make storage onboard easier and to keep freight costs to the minimum. Whether one needs to clean his teak decks, his fuel tanks, or to protect his 800 gm linen or just give the shine back to stainless steel, Hepburn Bio Yacht Care has a total range of products for every area.
Hepburn Bio Yacht Care´s range of sustainable products also cleans pipes safely, reduces in black & grey water tanks and eliminates smells while minimizing the impact of one´s overboard discharge on our Marine Life.
ECO CREW
Also, this year, because we live in a world of waste, the Antibes Yacht Show encourages Eco Crew´s initiative. This charity founded by Sheila Goddard was initially created to give a second life to what Crew normally throws away. Because of the limited space on board yachts, at the end of a season or a charter, there are sometimes quantities of dried and canned food that are unused. Also when renewing crew outfits, the old ones usually end up in the trash. Regularly ECO crew is there to pick up this “waste” and redistribute it to the ones in needs of it. Eco crew has developed a network with other international organizations to handle a worldwide distribution.
THE TFI FOUNDATION – WOOD FOREVER
Lastly, the Antibes Yacht Show encourages the Monaco Prince albert II Foundation and its technical partner The Forest Trust whose specialty is to assist companies in getting sustainable products.
The Wood Forever program, initiated by the Foundation offers to trace the origins of the wood supply used by yachting companies. This program contributes to the choice of timber supplies according to the risks of these supplies. It also establishes a responsible purchasing policy with manufacturers. This program helps to make the middle of the yachting exemplary in its use of wood and derived products.
