Codecasa launches the 65 metre displacement Yacht LADY LAU
On Monday June 14th, 2010 Codecasa Shipyards launched the newest 65 metres displacement yacht Lady Lau. The Hull C 118, motor yacht LADY LAU is scheduled to be delivered to her Owner for the end of next July.
The motor yacht Lady Lau is characterized by classic and traditional lines and has been realized following the precise wishes of the Owner, who is currently following step-by-step the various stages of construction along with architects Franco and Anna Maria Della Role.
With her 5 large decks, starting from lower deck, the boat Lady Lau offers a Top Tank Deck with service areas and useful spaces for laundry and stowage very easy to reach thanks to the lift connecting all 5 decks. The Lower Deck hosts the garage and the engine room, whereas the Guests and crew areas are more forward. Going up, the Main Deck of the super yacht Lady Lau faces on a Veranda with two relax zones and a wonderful grand piano which opens to the saloon and a dinner table able to seat up to 18 people. This deck offers three Guests cabins as well: 2 for the staff and an extra crew cabin. The Upper Deck, with another dinner table and a large saloon with a bar and a game table, hosts more forward the Owner’s area with a full beam bedroom.
The Wheelhouse of the Lady Lau Motoryacht offers a relaxing spa pool with sofas, a cinema and a gymnasium, whereas on Sun Deck there will be a large sunpads area. She has very classic interiors with a great quantity of marbles, mahogany woods and upholstery all over the boat. Great care is given to all Guests areas, in particular to the 4 cabins in Lower Deck, which differ the ones from the others both in colours and style.
The Owner of the LADY LAU Yacht expressly asked to have each room in a different style: thai, chinese, aegyptian, minimalist so to be able, at the occurrance, to host his many foreign guests in an even more comfortable atmosphere. This difference in styles is the main characteristic for this vessel, which will be very rich in decorations and materials. Mahogany is the wood used for the cabins but also all over the boat. The marble bathrooms are in style as well, matching with each bedroom’s style, so are their taps and fittings and their furniture articles. The ceilings in the cabins have a particular indirect lighting system and very very few down lighters, whereas the floors are in carpet.
Aesthetically the yacht Lady Lau reflects the Codecasa style with its filant bow and a portholes game filling hull and superstructure. Then two Caterpillar 3516B engines, each of 2448 HP, allows the yacht to reach 17 knots at cruise speed and a range of 5000 nm at 12 knots with the possibility to have an oceanic navigation.
This is the third 2010 launch for Codecasa after 65 meters yacht FAMILY DAY and 45 meters open FRAMURA 2 yacht. On schedule for 2011 are the launch of the first 42 metre yacht Vintage and of a traditional 51 meters.
Framura 2 Luxury Yacht & Superyacht News
Another exciting launch has been announced from Codecasa today. The first CODECASA 45S Hull 72, named FRAMURA 2 yacht has been launched on the 5th of June 2010. This new fast motoryacht Framura 2, designed by Andre Bacigalupo continuing the famous open Codecasa 35s and Codecasa 41s lines, has a propulsion given by two waterjets KaMeWa 71 S 3 and one booster KaMeWa 63 B 3 and it is provided of three engines MTU 2400 HP each.
In detail, the Codecasa Motor Yacht FRAMURA 2 will have more space and volume in the relax areas, and in the guests and crew cabins, thanks to a further increasing of the dimensions. Comfort onboard is a must have even more often required by the guests, but sometimes this brings to dedicate less space to the crew area. This is not the case with the newly launched Codecasa 35s motor yacht FRAMURA II, in fact the crew quarters here are situated in the aft area and this new position gives more comfort and volume to the whole boat.
Using the latest new technologies this construction sees the introduction, for the first time, of a new model of Australian gyrostabilizers, able to increase a lot the comfort to the yacht while at anchor.
The interior decoration of the Superyacht Framura 2, classic but in modern key, are by Arch. Anna Maria and Franco Della Role in collaboration with Arch. Margherita Gozzi, giving a simple aspect to all areas, with no decorative enrichments. Among the colours here prevails the contrast between the dark wengé of the floor (in the saloon and in the Lower Deck Owner and Guests areas) and the light ivory leather used for ceilings, side-walls, sofas, armchairs, and for the panel separating the saloon from the Bridge and for all the headboards. Maple panellings are used for the walls on Lower deck with wengé recall visible on the bed structures as well. The two large volumes at the saloon entrance to the Framura II yacht internally offer a number of services. The one on right side consists of a Day-toilet and of a dumb-waiter able to connect all three decks ; the one on left side hides a passage for the crew which connects the crew area to the saloon, this area also offers a wine cellar and a coffee machine. The interior decorative material of these two volumes is in lacquered bronze wood with some shelves in dark Emperador marble.
The saloon, besides the sofas zone, of this beautiful recently launched Yacht Framura 2 provides also a game table on the right side and a relax corner with a style coffee table and armchairs, whose vibrant colours recall the paintings hung on the partitioning panel. In front of it is the plexiglass dining table, with basement in wengé, able to accommodate up to ten guests. The partitioning panel consists of a fixed part and of two sliding side doors, which, when opened are a way to reach the wheelhouse and the guests stairs, while, when closed, they allow much more privacy to saloon and dining area.
The bridge hidden behind the saloon partitioning panel has a wonderful view and it is provided of the most modern navigation and communication equipments.
The Codecasa Framura 2 motor yacht Sun Deck has a second helm station, a relax sofa, a big multi-equipped sunbathing area and a second alfresco dining table able to seat up to ten people. All this is reachable by stepping on an ample and comfortable polished stainless steel ladder.
Besides the gyroscope stabilizers, the Framura II yacht also offers two innovations outside on Main Deck: a sunroof in the aft cockpit to give more shadow to the relax area, and an automatically opening awning in the seating area at bow side thanks to a hydraulic mechanism hidden in the structure.
Finally, the yacht Framura 2 provides a 6,26 meters Castoldi Tender in the garage and of a comfortable outside bathing platform.

Claasen Jachtbouw have launched the 44 metre J-Class sailing yacht Lionheart.
The J-Class sailing yacht Lionheart is the first of a new breed of aluminium J-Class yachts which are are built to a Hoek yacht designs at Holland’s Claasen Jachtbouw shipyard. One of the leading offices in classically styled sailing yachts, Hoek Design is intimately involved in the revival of these magnificent yachts from the 1930s.
Sailing yacht Lionheart incorporates two small separate deckhouses and cockpits – one of which is designed especially for the yacht’s owner and guests. This feature gives extra versatility for both racing or cruising the superyacht.
When delivered Lionheart will be the largest J-Class superyacht in existence, with 17m overhangs on an LOA of 43.4m. ABS classed and MCA compliant, she will be able to accommodate eight guests in four cabins.
Hoek Design has developed specific Velocity Prediction Software for J-Class yachts in partnership with Piet van Oossanen of wing keel fame. This highly sophisticated Velocity Prediction Program (VPP) has been developed specifically for these craft, and was calibrated using tank test data from a six-metre long model of a J. The aerodynamic part was calibrated with wind tunnel test data. “In contrast to other types of software, our VPP software is capable of calculating rudder angles as well as predicting performance in waves,” Andre Hoek explains. “This enables us to also optimise helm balance.”
Yacht Lionheart a J-Class Sailing Yacht
Originally designed for the Ranger syndicate by Starling Burgess and Olin Stephens, Lionheart is the first yacht to be built based upon this research. Under construction for a repeat customer of Hoek Design, she will be the largest J afloat when launched. Tremendous 17-metre overhangs on a LOA of 44 metres have created a fascinating super J with a maximum waterline length.
Hoek: “We extensively optimised Lionheart’s structure using 3D structural modelling techniques with finite element software programs. The complete hull structure was analysed for stiffness and torsion, and her stiffness compared to the steel original. The weight of the hull structure was also further optimised, while the hull was developed in high tensile Alustar plating and extrusion materials to provide even greater stiffness. We also carried out extensive research into the mast position, and sail area vs. handicap in order to create a yacht that would perform to her best on the race course.”
42 m Calliope Langam Superyacht launched by Holland Jachtbouw
Commissioned by the owners of the 32-metre flybridge cruiser Cassiopeia, completed by HJB in 2004, thisall-aluminium ‘gentlemen’s yacht’ has a cruising speed of 15.5 knots. Combining all the client’s cruising experiences with the very latest thinking in motoryacht construction, shemeets a raft of specific demands in terms of customisation and quality, including a highly specified and fully integrated bridge.
The exterior luxury yacht design and naval architecture of the motor yacht Calliope is by Langan Design Associates, with an elegant modern-classic interior from the boards of Rhoades Young. Showcasing high-end weathered limed oak, the interior contrasts classical architecture with a range of carefully chosen modern furniture. One of the most dramatic features is a pair of offset reverse spiral staircases, which provide a dynamic connection to the three decks. Vistas up through the sweeping undersides of the steps make this a striking centrepiece to the yacht.
The superyacht’s main deck consists of a very relaxed and comfortable lounge and dining area, with a hidden sliding shoji screen to split the two spaces when more intimate dining is required. The forward owners’ stateroom includes a private library, full beam lounge area and separate bathrooms with dressing rooms. This splendid area is flooded with natural light and has a strong visual connection with the outside world.
Teak is the predominant word on the bridge deck, with the sky lounge making the most of the full beam. Once the large sliding doors are opened to the aft deck, the entire deck and saloon blend into a united ‘inside-out’ zone that is ideal for informal relaxation at anchor.

43m Leopard Mariellina Superyacht Launched
Superyacht Mariellina a 43 metre Leopard motor yacht has been launched in Pisa, Italy. The launch of motor yacht Mariellina is a mile stone in the shipyard’s passage from the Rodriguez Group management to the Picchiotti family. M/Y Mariellina is the first yacht entirely managed by the Leopard Yachts shipyard: It has been sold, built and customised directly by the shipyard to satisfy the owner needs.
The launch of yacht Mariellina coincides with the presentation of the first hull of the new Leopard 43m line. The yacht is the result of the collaboration between the shipyard, the naval architect André Baciugalupo and the interior designer Cristiano Gatto.
The Leopard 43m completes the shipyard’s range with a new concept of a performing and competitive yacht, able to allow its guest to enjoy the open areas in full comfort, thanks to its spacious flybridge.
The Leopard shipyard is ready for the next boat shows season with a new composite range as follows: Leopard 32m, Leopard 34m, Leopard 43m, Leopard 46m, and the Leopard 56m.
“I’m really happy – says CEO Vincenzo Moccia – In such a difficult moment we managed to communicate to the outside world the news that have seen and that will see us as players in the short term:
March 2009: cancellation of the commercial commitment with the Rodriguez Group
June 2009: delivery of a stock yacht to the first direct client
September 2009: direct participation to the first Boat Shows season
April 2010: strategic agreement with the banks
May 2010: M/Y Leopard 43/01 launch: first hull of the new 43m line
June 2010: M/Y Leopard 34/16 launch: first yacht managed directly by the shipyard
July 2010: launch and delivery of M/Y 27/44, second yacht managed directly by the shipyard
The above result has been possible thanks to the dedication of the employees, the workers and the subcontractors, but mostly thanks to the tenacity and the personal and economical commitment of the Picchiotti family who took the risk and are betting on the future.
New Diano Motor Yacht Crowbridge by Riva Trigoso Italy
An epitome of Italian style, yacht Crowbridge’s sober and elegant design is made contemporary in the juxtaposed straight lines that create a tension of slender surfaces and the wide, soft curves that give dynamism and a sense of continuity to this boat.
Motor yacht Crowbridge is hardwood and mahogany marine plywood hull to superstructure. Interiors feature details of a striking refinement. Paint conceals Diano’s woodwork totally, yet it is thanks to the nobility of this material, to the sobriety of lines and simplified forms that this boat stands apart from the hypersophistication of most fiberglass yachts.
Superyacht Crowbridge has five staterooms, including one central full-width master stateroom. Twin guest staterooms are forward with aligned beds. Additional twin guest staterooms have beds arranged to form an angular scheme. Each room has private facilities, air conditioning, telephone and HiFi systems, LCD television.
Twin crew quarters are aft and have air conditioning, television and stereo systems and separate facilities.
Interiors are cherrywood with blue leather upholstery. Deckheads finishes are precious fabrics and white laquered woods.
The galley area features a spacious African black marble top and white teak slat flooring. Bathroom vanity tops are statuary marble.
The opening aft hatch and accommodation ladder on the starboard side are also distinctive features of luxury yacht Diano Crowbridge.
Naval carpentry is an excellence in naval construction because wood boat construction processes are very complex to achieve quality standards as per applicable legislation. Wood yachts are amongst the most prized ever. Their fascination lies in a particular way to navigate that bears in itself the evolution of technology and the entire history of navigation.
Based on a study of Diano’s brand DNA, superyacht Diano Crowbridge’s design has been developed in a symbiosis of Diano builders and designers from Proship, La Spezia. The objective was to conjugate client expectations and functionality and usability of this construction.

Sanlorenzo launches Yacht MENTXU
Sanlorenzo, the prestigious Italian Shipyard that for more than 50 years is focused on the production of motor yachts exclusively tailor-made to the style and requirements of each owner, has recently launched a new important boat of his fleet the SL100 New MENTXU yacht.
The SL100 New – Mentxu yacht is the second hull of the great news of the season 2009/2010. In the unmistakable Sanlorenzo line, matching elegance, balance of volumes, well balanced ratio between empties and full bodies, the Ameglia (La Spezia) shipyard was able to concentrate an extraordinary number of innovations, without knocking in any way the consistent family feeling of the Sanlorenzo planning fleet. After a broad and deep analysis of the concept, the Design Department of the shipyard – with the cooperation of different naval architects and designers – elaborated the project, in respect of the Sanlorenzo design tradition, which raised the conservation and the stability of its lines as the worthiest value in its yachts, considered as icons in the yachting business.
The external lines of the super yacht Mentxu are updated to present-day requirements with delicate, but substantial touches on the gunwale line, on the windows, on the shape of the transom and the fly bridge. The most significant element on the SL 100 New motoryacht Mentxu is the much larger windows than on the previous SL 100 model. The Mentxu yacht is available with or without hard top. Its outline, its shape, its poles, and the shading system of the area are completely new design. On the bathing platform is mounted an original shower system composed by a pivoting arm which is hidden, when not in use, on the teak part of the transom gunwale.
SL 100 New MENTXU superyacht is powered by two MTUs 16V2000M93 with 1,790kW (2,435 HP) that can assure to the yacht a maximum speed of 29 knots and a continuous cruising speed of 25 knots.
An unmistakable style and a refined design place the Sanlorenzo yachts to the highest level of the international production. In more than 50 years of history the Italian Shipyard became synonymous of excellence in terms of quality and attention to details, typical features of the craftsmanship production.
