Motor yacht Columbus 199 is a 60 meter (197 feet), steel-hulled superyacht, currently being built by Cantieri Navale Palumbo slated for launch in 2012.
Motor yacht Columbus 199 is a sleek and streamlined motor yacht designed by an Italy-based design firmHydro-Tec. Megayacht Columbus 199 rises five decks high and has a full-displacement hull fitted with a bulbous bow for better seakeeping.
Superyacht Columbus 199 has a 7 cabin layout including the full beam owner’s suite on the upper deck aft of the wheelhouse allowing fantastic views, 2 VIP staterooms on the Main deck and 4 cabins on the lower deck.
The motor yacht Columbus 199 will also feature an enclosed gym and an alfresco bar accompany on the upper deck, a spa pool, beach club area aft of the tender garage, and an elevator serving four of the decks.
“The extra length of the Columbus 199 allowed us to create an enclosed area on the fly bridge were the Gym has been located”, commented Hydro-Tec’s designer Sergio Cutolo. “In the aft area the hull has been lengthened in order to create a beach club aft of the garage area. The beach club is further enhanced by the hydraulic swim platform which, when open, extends the hull by about three metres.”
The motor yacht Columbus 199 is expected to have a top speed of 17 knots thanks to twin MTU 16V 4000 M60 diesel engines. At 15 knots, the Columbus 199 is expected to have a 4,000-mile range and at 14 knots she is expected to have a 5,000 nautical mile arrange.
The 60-metre superyacht Columbus 199 will also meet RINA (Registro Italiano Navale) Green Star code, a classification identifying ships which are designed, constructed and operated in such a way as to ensure maximum respect for the environment.
Motor yacht Columbus 199 is expected to be launched in 2012.
Palumbo are also working on a smaller sistership Columbus 177. Commissioned by the same owner, the 177 is nearing completion at Palumbo. The equally eco-friendly Columbus 177 has more of a “classical” design compared with the more ‘aggressive’ styling of motor yacht Columbus 199.
