The new crew member of the 100-foot sailing yacht Esimit Europa 2 has become Ivan Kljaković Gašpić, European and World champion in different sailing classes, as well as recipient of prominent “Croatian Sportsman of the Year” award. He will make a part of the 7-nation European crew composed of world respected sailors, led by legendary Jochen Schümann.

According to Kljaković Gašpić, new challenge will enrich his Olympic class experiences, while at the same time he is looking forward to support the Esimit Sailing Team achieving further successes. His acquisition is warmly welcomed by Dr. Vesna Pusić, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia.

Regarding his involvement in a sailing project, which is also promoting unity among Europeans, Kljaković Gašpić stated: “I am honoured to be a part of one of the most ambitious sporting projects in the world. This is a big recognition not just for me personally, but also for the entire Croatia as a maritime country. As a nation, Croatian sailors have extremely good results in Olympic sailing classes; therefore I am looking forward to the new challenge and at the same time prove that we can be equally successful by sailing big boats. Being a part of the European team of sailing superstars is just an additional motivation for me to work really hard and to contribute towards future victories of the Esimit Europa 2 yacht.”

The Esimit Europa 2 yacht sails under the flag of the European Union, is registered in Cyprus, a member of the Yacht Club de Monaco, competes for the Slovenian Sailing Federation and on board joins sailors from 8 different European countries. It is under the patronage of the President of the European Commission, José Manuel Barroso, and endorsed by Martin Schulz, the President of the European Parliament. Its main sponsor is the global energy company Gazprom, while BMW is the official partner.
