For the third consecutive year, the prestigious Singapore Yacht Show will be once again hosted by ONEo15 Marina, Sentosa Cove from April 19 to 21, 2012. The next year’s event is expected to welcome more superyachts, luxury boats, exclusive brands as well as high net worth individuals than ever before.
The show presents an exciting opportunity for the industry to ignite new markets. The traditional bastions of superyachting, Europe and North America, are still struggling to shake off the effects of the global economic crisis, while Asia, however, continues to stride ahead.
This year’s Wealth X World Ultra Wealth Report found Asia to have more than 42, 000 ultra high net worth individuals with a total value of $6.25 trillion. Indonesia, the latest boom market in the region, experienced a wealth increase amongst UHNWIs of 41.2 per cent in the past year.
Andy Treadwell, managing director of the Singapore Yacht Show, says the event aims to treat these individuals to an experience that showcases both the best of Singapore and the luxury yachting industry.
“We partner with renowned and well-recognised brands in Asia, such as BMW M Car and Lamborghini, so high net worth visitors build associations with yachting and its lifestyle. They are the future of the yachting industry and we will continue to pique their interest,” he says.
More than just an exhibition of exclusive vessels, the Singapore Yacht Show is an important industry meeting place and a real festival; a social gathering of like-minded wealthy individuals. Over five days, some 250 key industry players will also attend the 5th Asia Pacific Superyacht Conference on April 17th and 18th, while visitors can join them for a VIP Preview Gala at the recently opened W Hotel Sentosa, a
supercar and classic car rendezvous, a fine art exhibition, and a plethora of private parties aboard multimillion dollar yachts.
As proven in 2011 and 2012, the event is a platform for the biggest names among superyacht builders – such as Feadship, Heesen, Palmer Johnson, Sanlorenzo, and Westport – to meet and impress an important gathering of very wealthy people from all over Asia.
