The 37 metre yacht YII is now newly available for luxury yacht charters in the Mediterranean and elsewhere. Sailing yacht YII (or Y2) is a Holland Jachtbouw built sleek Dixon sloop which was launched in 2006. This good looking sail boat was the product of the first Holland Jachtbouw and the Dixon Design collaboration. The result is a a spectacular, good looking and fast cruising yacht.
S/Y YII is a cruising sloop which provided charter guests with an uncluttered deck and a contemporary minimalist type overall appearance. For instance, superyacht YII has a low profile deckhouse as well as a considered range of other sleek features like her recessed headsail furlers, through hull anchoring system, pop-up cleats, deck recessed Genoa tracks and concealed hinges for hatches. This all adds up to space and symmetry on deck.
Yacht YII has also been designed and built to sail fast and performance is another feature. Her Alustar hull and fairly frugal weight of 152 tons means her sailing performance fits hand in glove with her sleek looks. Additional, she has been fitted with a full suite of North Sails and no expense has been spared with her deck equipment and power package which has been supplied by the yachting world’s leading super sailing yacht brands.
The sail boat’s elegance has also been brought down below deck in a superb interior as designed by John Munford. Here, a modern yet distinctly warm feel is achieved by a pear and wenge wood blend with light white panels throughout. The woodwork contrasts nicely with the woven leather panels in the corridor. Yacht YII also has a crew quarters which are spacious and well appointed.
More about sailing yacht YII from Dixon Design:
This low profile, minimalist theme continues with the deck house, the concealed bimini and dodger sprayhood system and travels right down to such items as the helm consoles where buttons are out and touch screen technology is very much in.
The performance mentioned above is the result of significant amounts of design time and tank testing to prove the concept and above the water a carefully thought through rig and sail inventory. The hull design has been optimised to ensure that the keel and ballast bulb provide the maximum lift, stability and efficiency. Sailing yacht YII’s large rig provides an excellent sail area / displacement ratio and she carries a non-overlap blade headsail for power and ease of handling while a genoa reacher makes the most of light airs.
Performance in light air conditions cannot be guaranteed, no matter how good the hull or rig design, if the yacht turns out to be overweight! To ensure this did not happen throughout the design and build process we specified and monitored the strongest but lightest materials available.
A hull and deck of ‘Alustar’ aluminium, and an interior built largely of Nomex panels ensured that the overall structure of the vessel would be very strong but light. Every piece of major, and not so major equipment, superyacht YII The 37 metre express was evaluated by us to ensure it was the most ‘weight’ effective solution.
Below decks, yacht YII has many more surprises. Fewer cabins than would normally find their way into a 37 meter yacht mean a light and airy ambiance; a light feel which is accentuated by the use of pear wood joinery. John Munford, who worked closely with us on the interior, describes the style as “light in feel, texture and weight, as required for a fast cruising yacht”. The owner and guest cabins are forward with the crew aft, a layout which worked extremely well for the owner whose previous boat was also designed by us.
Sailing yacht Y2 is our second major sailing super yacht launch in a year following on from Antares. Two very different yachts but both built to satisfy the requirements of their owners.
