Two key marine industry organizations have signalled a positive move forward for the Australian marine industry by signing a landmark agreement to work closer together.

Under the new agreement, the Australian International Marine Export Group (AIMEX), the peak body for Australian marine exporters, will manage the day to day operations of Super Yacht Base Australia (SYBA) the peak body for the Australian superyacht sector.

Both AIMEX and SYBA have a strong history of promoting Australian products and services globally and marketing Australia as a destination for superyachts.

Chairman of SYBA David Mc Queen said “we see that this agreement with AIMEX will enhance the day to day management of SYBA and ensure that the SYBA brand and focus will continue to drive results for SYBA members. AIMEX has developed a high profile within the industry both in Australia and globally and having them manage our day to day operations and working closer with them will bring benefits for all”.

Alistair Murray, AIMEX Chairman stated “This is a great move to bring two similarly focused organizations closer together and at the same time ensuring both brands continue to be strongly marketed in Australia and internationally. AIMEX under the management of Chief Executive MaryAnne Edwards and with a stable and strong industry experienced board has gone from strength to strength and this relationship with SYBA is another positive step for the industry as a whole.”

The agreement commenced on 1 July and is seen by many key industry stakeholders as a positive step for both organizations.

Peter Hancock from DIISR and Chair of the Marine Industry Working Group said

“This is a move forward for the industry and we recognise that it will provide greater efficiencies and effectiveness for both organisations. We look forward to continuing to work closely with both organizations and the marine industry as a whole through the Marine Industry Working Group.”

Hayden Williams, Austrade’s Global Team Leader for Marine commented “This is definitely a positive step for the industry and is sure to strengthen SYBA in the international arena as AIMEX has an excellent reputation and strong representation at a number of key international boat shows that also have a strong Superyacht focus.   This type of resource sharing is something we encourage as it can only benefit the industry as a whole both here and overseas.  Austrade looks forward to working with AIMEX and SYBA in their export initiatives
