After the famous Mastwalk/Keelwalk stunt, Alex Thomson did not fail to impress us yet again! Check out the video of his latest Kitesurf Stunt elegantly carrier out in a very smart Hugo Boss suit, while chasing his IMOCA Open 60 sailing boat upwind and attaching himself via a rope to the top of the yacht’s mast. The daredevil skipper then uses the speed of the boat to fire himself up to 280feet above water, seemingly effortlessly surfing above the vessel.
Once Thomson achieves the hight of his flight, he detaches himself from the yacht and expertly controls his descent back down, landing the kite board on the water in an impeccable style.
Thirty-five people were involved in the planning, co-ordination and execution of ‘The Skywalk’ stunt carried out by Alex Thomson Racing, including Alex Thomson Racing Operations Manager Ross Daniel, professional kite-surfer Susi Mai and kite-surfing coach Ray Kasper.
Thomson will be racing in the pinnacle event of the Ocean Masters race calendar – the Vendée Globe – which will start on November 6th. The non-stop, solo, unassisted, round the world race takes approximately 80 days to complete. In the last edition of the race, back in 2013, Thomson finished in third place. This time around he is determined to be the first Brit to win the prestigious title.
