Purpose-Built Facility to Improve Capacity and Capabilities
Amber Composites has announced that the company has broken ground on a new building at their production facility in Langley Mill, Derbyshire. The building will be dedicated to the production of composite materials including Amber’s prepreg, surface film, adhesive film and syntactic core and will more than double their production area.
Amber Composites began developing and manufacturing prepreg in 1988. Under new management since 2007, the company has invested heavily in upgrading its facilities and capabilities. It has installed a UD manufacturing line, an updated research and development laboratory, a cold storage building, and new core processing equipment. The new dedicated prepreg facility will be fully operational in 2012.
“The demand for lightweight materials continues to rise”, said Jonathan McQueen, Managing Director of Amber Composites, “and we’re investing in technology, equipment and facilities to meet that demand while keeping our lead times as short as possible”.
