Amels has begun construction on a 78m/256ft superyacht designed by Espen Oeino. The contract was signed at the Monaco Yacht Show and it will be the largest custom superyacht Amels has built to date, comprised of five decks and a Gross Tonnage of 2,850.
Amels Commercial Director, Rose Damen, commented on the build:
“This is a particularly significant contract for AMELS and a great compliment for our Full Custom team. All of us at AMELS are looking forward to working with the owner’s team and the yacht’s designers to create this beautiful new custom yacht with the absolute highest quality that AMELS is renowned for.”
While the naval architecture and engineering will be completed by the Amels in-house team, Zuretti Interior Designers has been selected by the owners:
“We are very proud of the trust that the owner and AMELS shipyard have placed in us when selecting our design studio to take part in this project,” says François Zuretti. “Being involved with the new generation of custom-made AMELS yachts is yet another great opportunity to pursue our commitment to developing unique yachts that are also contemporary, comfortable, functional vessels with distinct ethnic notes.”
Amels has produced approximately 60 superyachts to date, some of the most well-known being the yard’s flagship superyacht HERE COMES THE SUN (83m/272ft) and 73m/240ft motor yacht ILONA. Delivery of this latest superyacht is expected in 2021.
