With an ever larger fleet of superyachts, Amico & Co is keeping up with the times. The Genoa-based refit facility can welcome the world’s largest yachts, thanks to its two state-of-the-art graving docks up to 200m.
Amico & Co is building its new sheltered graving dock equipped with heating, ventilation and emission treatment systems for painting works. Works will be completed in September 2014. The graving dock will have the following characteristics: 101mt LOA, with a beam of 21mt, an airdraft of 31mt, and a draught of 7,4mt. It will be located alongside Amico & Co facilities and workshops.
“It will be a major investment” Mr. Amico, President & CEO of the company, says “allowing us to offer a competitively priced service to yachts up to 100 m and to move more towards the segment of the market that appreciates our reputation. Part of our strategy is to continue investing in new infrastructures to allow us to constantly improve our efficiency in the future.”
At the same time, as previously announced, Amico & Co has been appointed with the direct management and the full control operations of the dry dock n° 2 in the port of Genoa.
Dry-dock n° 2 can accommodate two large yachts approximately up to 90mt each and it is divided in two sections, one covered with a telescopic paint shed owned by the shipyard which has temperature and humidity control, overspray recovery and filtration systems.
