In order to undergo sea trials, the beautifully designed motor yacht Sea Owl emerged from her shed at Feadship on May 31. With exterior, interior as well as decoration designed by London-based Andrew Winch Designs, the newly launched 62m mega yacht Sea Owl represents the culmination of an amazing five year collaboration between Designer, Owner and Shipyard. Incorporating the truly unique vision of her Owner, Sea Owl is “a true work of art” and “the most customised 62-metre yacht ever built!”

Andrew Winch Designs had been working with this Client since 2005. Whilst working on their previous boat, the Client commissioned them to design a new yacht tailored to their family’s growing needs. The build project was put out to tender to seven other European shipyards and Feadship were chosen by the family to build their new yacht, making it the 6th Winch/Feadship project to be delivered to date.
Sea Owl yacht’s Owners are an experienced Yachting family whose previous 43-metre yacht (also Sea Owl) was designed by the team at AWD. Andrew Winch commented “Having already had the pleasure of working on several magnificent projects for this outstanding family, we have established a tremendous rapport and were able to understand their vision and translate their dream into a wonderful reality. The latest chapter in the “Sea Owl Story”, she evolves and extends the spirit inherent in the family’s first Andrew Winch designed yacht to new heights of elegance and entertainment. Reflected in the facilities on board, the yacht is an extension of the Client’s home, providing both relaxing and spacious accommodation. “Sea Owl’s magical interior, is a treasure trove of beautiful detailing surprises that are sure to entertain all generations” says Andrew Winch. “A wealth of toys and games provide fun distractions for the younger guests whilst adults will appreciate the tailored general arrangement and extraordinarily detailed selection of hand carved pieces, sculptures, petrified wood items and marbles. Sea Owl has been a fantastically creative project to work on and one of which our studio is immensely proud”.
In keeping with the signature of the Client’s previous yacht, superyacht Sea Owl’s magnificent profile features classical smooth lines, traditional green hull and stainless steel finishes, with teak wood joinery to compliment her elegant exterior decks.
Anthony Sands (Edge Yachts) has represented the Owner on this project from the early design phase. Speaking on behalf of his delighted Owner, Sands confirmed that luxury yacht Sea Owl has been a challenging but highly rewarding project. “We believe she is quite possibly the most customized 62-metre yacht ever built and is a true work of art in every respect”.
