The fourth annual Australian Superyacht and Marine Export (ASMEX) conference will be once again hosted by the InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort next year. The event will be held in the days leading up to the 26th Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show.
Australia’s key superyacht and marine export conference organised by the Australian International Marine Export Group (AIMEX) and Superyacht Australia, next year’s ASMEX conference will be staged at Sanctuary Cove on Tuesday May 20 and Wednesday, May 21.
It will mark the fourth consecutive year Sanctuary Cove has hosted ASMEX, which will feature high profile national and international guest speakers who will address current issues in the industry today.
SCIBS sales, sponsorship and events manager Johan Hasser said the return of the event was a coup for Sanctuary Cove and for the Boat Show, ensuring both would enjoy greater international exposure during its biggest event week of the year.
“ASMEX is one of the leading marine export conferences in Australia and it’s a great event to have on site at Sanctuary Cove in the lead up to the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show,” said Mr Hasser.
“SCIBS is widely recognised as a must-attend boat show on the marine industry’s calendar, and the fact that ASMEX organisers wish to align their event with ours is a great vote of confidence for the Show.
“The event has gained significant momentum over the past three years and is set to attract an even greater presence of international delegates in its fourth annual meeting in 2014.”
Mr Hasser said the relatively young event had gained quick industry recognition as a key industry convention which facilitated invaluable networking and growth opportunities for attendees.
“The conference has become renowned for its provision of quality information, valuable networking and for providing the industry with opportunities, solutions and outcomes,” he said.
“Many of our exhibitors and international delegates are already on site so it makes for a very productive and successful industry networking week for attendees and the inclusion of the ASMEX Awards celebrations adds to the excitement and exposure for all key stakeholders.”
AIMEX and Superyacht Australia operations manager Victoria Smith said organisers were putting plans in place for the two-day conference, which will include the Australian Marine Export and Superyacht Industry Awards during the Gala Dinner of the event.
Ms Smith said feedback from conference delegates year on year also confirmed their preference was for the conference to be held immediately prior to a boat show, maximising their return on investment.
“Given the success of the conference being staged at Sanctuary Cove for the past three years and the support received from the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show and other key stakeholders, keeping the location of the conference consistent was a logical decision,” she said.
Planning is already well underway for next year’s SCIBS which will run from Thursday May 22 to Sunday May 25.
An official event prospectus, together with the 2014 application will be released mid-October detailing information for prospective exhibitors.
