Asia is becoming a growth destination for superyachts with many requiring repairs, routine maintenance and refits. Given the huge capability in Australia for servicing superyacht requirements and their global reputation it is critical for Australia to establish better links in Asia.

The objective of Superyacht Australia’s Asian exploratory mission is to research the opportunities for joint ventures, the sharing of facilities and to promote what Australia has to offer.

Recognizing the opportunity to engage with this growing region Carrie Carter, Carter Marine Agencies & Chairperson for the Superyacht Group Great Barrier Reef, Cameron Bray of Bray Management, Jamie MacPhail – Pantaenius Yacht Insurance and director of Magnum Top Gear Michael Donovan will join Superyacht Australia in the trade mission identifying the opportunities to grow their businesses.

Carrie Carter, Director of Carter Marine Agencies based in Cairns explained of her motivation to participate in the trade mission stating that “Vessels departing Asia for the South Pacific or from the South Pacific destined for Asia are highly likely to call into Australia enroute for refuelling, reprovisioning, safe haven or repairs.  As one of Australia’s leading Yacht Agents, maintaining a close network with Asia to ensure that vessels obtain continued support on their travels is extremely important.  The opportunity to part take in this upcoming trade mission to Asia is essential for us to grow our network between these countries and strengthen our support services to a fast maturing superyacht industry.”

The trade delegation will be conducting a series of meetings, seminars and networking functions in Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi and Phuket in the week of 20th January. Enquiries regarding joining the trade mission or attending these functions can be directed to AIMEX Operations Manager Victoria Smith at vsmith@aimex.asn.au
