Azimut Yachts, the prestigious Italian luxury yacht builder, was a centre of attention at the 2010 Cannes International Boat Show. The company had eleven stunning models on display, with their Azimut 72S yacht being amongst the winners of the World Yacht Trophies 2010. An event sponsored by LuxMedia Group, publisher of leading international yachting titles throughout the world.
Public acclaim. Representing three of the four ranges that make up the collection of Azimut Yachts, the eleven models showcased at the Cannes International Boat & Yacht Show gave a huge number of boating enthusiasts the chance to admire the prestigious Flybridge range, the S range, and the Grande range. The eleven yachts attracted an informed, international audience of visitors from 47 countries from five different continents. Guests at the Azimut Yachts stand were also treated to an exhibition of works by Serge Van de Put, the well-known Belgian artist that transforms old wheels and tyres into highly original sculptures representing humans and animals.
Critical acclaim. The appreciation shown by yacht owners was echoed this year in the success enjoyed with the critics, as one of the models on show in Cannes, the motor yacht Azimut 72S, was awarded the World Yacht Trophy for Best Layout. The Best Layout Trophy is a tribute to the exceptional features of a sporty yacht that also boasts endless comfort. Starting with the saloon on the main deck, which is divided both conceptually and physically into two areas, a dining area that is slightly raised and that dominates the horizon, and a conversation area featuring lounges that unfold with natural class and style towards the cockpit. Curved lines embrace the outdoor saloon, with furniture to match the interiors, seemingly suspended in mid-air, while the barbecue folds away at the touch of a button, restoring the area’s sleek lines and design. The yacht’s streamlined, aerodynamic exterior underscores its sporty spirit, while concealing a surprisingly roomy upper deck, with enough space for a large glass roof that slides out over the saloon. The upper desk also features lounge chairs astern, a cocktail area, and a sun-deck next to the stylish, and highly innovative piloting seat.
Coming up next. The Cannes International Boat & Yacht Show came to a close with the enormous satisfaction of Azimut Yachts this year, though the spotlight won’t be waning any time soon for the yacht builder. From the 22nd to 25th September, the limelight will be enjoyed by the Grande collection, with one model on display at the Monaco Boat Show, the event dedicated to megayachts. From there the spotlight will move to the Genoa International Boat Show, which this year will set the stage for the world premiere of the Magellano 50, a yacht boasting the greatest eco-compatibility imaginable, thanks to original technological solutions and the adoption of environmental protection policies, as required by RINA’s GREEN PLUS standards. The new yacht bears witness to the environmental commitment of Azimut Yachts, the first big shipyard to attain ISO14001 certification thanks its cutting edge processes and approach to emissions and the processing of wood and other raw materials.
