Azimut|Benetti Group has won the tender called by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and will be building a 35-meter conference boat to host formal presentations and conferences. This superyacht project is scheduled for delivery in December 2018.
Azimut|Benetti teamed up with Verme Yacht Design to design this fully custom motor yacht. Special requirements, such as a conference table for 35 people, an interpreter booth and a Japanese style reception will be included in the layout design. Another feature of the superyacht will be a draft of only 1.25 metres, to be able to cruise in the shallow waters of Tokyo Bay. The height of the yacht must not exceed 11 metres from the waterline to allow the vessel to pass under various bridges.
Benetti CEO Vincenzo Poerio commented on the project: “We have won an extremely difficult tender operation in a country where the impeccable quality of products and services is a philosophy of life. The customer was extremely selective in both the pre-selection and award stages. The fact that we have beaten the major shipyards we were competing against is a further demonstration of our organisational reliability, financial soundness, construction experience and technological innovation capabilities, of which I cannot help but be very proud”.
The new project reaffirms the shipbuilder’s fantastic reputation in the yacht construction, as well its financial stability and outstanding Italian quality of luxury yachts built. The shipyard has been operating since 1873 and now employs more than 1000 highly skilled specialist at the two production sites – Livorno and Viareggio.
Benetti’s 69-metre superyacht Spectre is nearing completion and is due for delivery in early summer 2018. Although it is still unknown whether the new project will become available for charter, there is a significant amount of luxury charter yachts built by Benetti that have great popularity.
