The brand-new Azul 31 motor yacht Special K has been successfully launched by Whyko. Destined for an American Owner, superyacht Special K is a 31-meter semi-custom vessel, reaching an impressive speed of over 40 knots. She is ideal as a commuter yacht and destined for use in Southern Florida.
Whoever comes through the door at Whyko, the international nautical broker company with offices in Italy, Turkey and the United States, leaves with his dream come true. This experience is common to all clients, including the American Owner who was present at the technical launch of his new jewel: the Azul 31 yacht Special K, custom built by Italyachts (part of the Rodriguez Group) of Carrara, with a hull based on a Leopard and full custom interiors. The Owner had come to the Carrara offices in 2008 on the trail of a used Leopard, and left with the project for completely personalized 31 meter yacht, more enthused than when he arrived.
Azul 31
The Azul 31 is a luxury motor-yacht with a hardtop superstructure, while her sleek lines emphasize her sporty exterior. Both the project and construction are founded in the consolidated and renowned Viareggio tradition of yacht building, and offer an extremely comfortable solid and reliable yacht. Life aboard is equally comfortable, either above decks or below, and all is custom made.
With the design of the main-deck salon, the Owner created an extremely ample living area to accommodate his numerous family, with the stern couch to talk on, and watch the 55” TV. The dining room is forward, behind the pilot house, and furnished with a central table and eight chairs. Above decks, the cockpit offers an enormous sunbathing area and couch with extensive free space surrounding it.
Below decks, the Owner chose a four cabin layout, three queen size and one double, each with their own private bathroom. The Owner’s stateroom is amidships and runs from one side of the yacht to the other, with a lounge couch to port and a writing table and dresser to starboard.
Décor is in natural oak with a 60 gloss finish, and four different kinds of marble: white Onyx in the Owner’s zone, a pale Statuario in the guest area, blue Sodalite in the living area, and Bottoncino in the crew quarters. Here the Owner spent considerable time in modifying the layout to give the crew a more comfortable living area. For the first time in an Italian yard, exterior surfaces were finished with the new “Alexeal” paint, that gives an excellent result thanks to expert application and the product’s high quality.
Owner statement
Marco Fiorani’s experience and sensibility were crucial to successfully interpret the actual desires of the client. The Owner needed a yacht of considerable size and Italian craftsmanship to be built around him and his family. Whyko’s production management capabilities were perfectly able to create the Owner’s dream. After a careful analysis of all the possibilities, Whyko chose the Azul 31 as the ideal solution for their client, and it was love at first sight. As Wkyko does for every sold and built custom yacht, they created a pool of professionals, each with his own field, to oversee the design and construction of the yacht, and since 2007 worked together with the Owner’s architect, yacht captain and crew to create the Azul 31.
After delivery at the end of July 2013, the Special K yacht will leave Golf-Juan on the Costa Azzurra for Miami and the Bahamas where the Owner’s family usually resides. And seeing that Miami is the home of high speed yachting, it’s no coincidence that this 31 meter has a cruising speed of about 36 knots, with a maximum speed of 40 knots; all thanks to her three MTU motors developing 1,800 horsepower through a Kamewa water-jet and central turbine.
Owner’s statement
“I found a team that rose to the occasion”, said the Owner of the Azul 31 yacht Special K, “so I very much want to thank the team at Italyacht: the yard’s Owner, Riccardo Bemi, the yard’s manager Andrea Todde, Dino Abbruzzese from the Rodriguez Group, the yacht’s captain and construction supervisor Piero Ragazzi. And special thanks also go to Marco Fiorani, who not only followed the construction as if it were his own yacht, but without him we couldn’t have made our dream come true.”
