The Dutch yacht design company, Azure Naval Architects, which is based in Haarlem in the Netherlands, has announced that it now has its own team of in-house designers. Established to better address the needs of clients who prefer to have technology and design carried out by a single company, the new department is already working on the interior and exterior design for six motoryachts of varying lengths from 60 to 115 metres.
Azure Naval Architects is an independent Dutch design office founded in 2003 which is dedicated to providing design, engineering, construction supervision and support for new building or refitting of luxury motor yachts between 30 and 160 m length.
Azure’s office employs over 20 persons and is owned and run by Hugo van Wieringen, Erik Spek and Onne Logger. Hugo was the former chief designer and owner of De Voogt Naval Architects. Hugo, Erik and Onne have extensive experience in yacht building.

Experiencing considerable growth over the last seven years, this independent yacht design office, based in the Netherlands, has worked on several notable projects, including the technical design for the ISS Design Award winner Sunrays, as well as Vibrant Curiosity and Cakewalk.
“Over the coming years we will increase our focus on designing yacht interiors and exteriors in addition to our current core business of technical designs,” comments Hugo van Wieringen, Director at Azure. “It is becoming more common for clients to approach us for that type of design, and having our own design department will allow us to fulfil requests in a better and faster way.”
