Baia has introduced a new larger type of superyacht called the Baia Sevolution yacht. It differs from their traditional sole focus on open style sports fast planning hulled motor yachts and the first two Sevolutions yacht hulls, the Baia 26.6 and 29.6 metre superyachts, are already inbuild. In a response to a more environmental superyacht solution, these larger volume Sevolution boats have semi-displacement, semi-planning hulls which are easily driven through the water and are highly efficient as driven by hybrid propulsion.
Baia Yachts, Italy, has decided to enter a different segment of yachts, of larger sizes than those of fast commuter, i.e. very fast one deck boats with a very rough hull and so with low volumes, a boat type that definitely has a size limit. The choice was directed to a type of semi-planning hull with high efficiency, to reduce the consumption, by using an innovative propulsion/transmission at very low environmental impact, denominator shared with the other yachts built during the last 40 years.
This activity in progress is addressed to pleasure ships and commercial ships, for coast transport and use of protected marine areas, since they are provided with an hybrid propulsion with diesel engines for long transfers in open sea, but also with exhaust systems and diesel particular filters, able to reduce the environmental impact, and an electric propulsion for coast navigation.
“The Baia Sevolution motor yachts are designed to use an hybrid propulsion with diesel and electric engines, with Zero environmental impact, GREEN STAR homologation.”
The Sevolution Superyacht range will benefit by the same hulls and systems but with different superstructures and decor fittings on the basis of their proper destinations. Baia has have started the construction of the first two sizes, the 26.6 and 29.6 metre boats, and soon larger units will be developed.
The Baia Sevolution motor yachts are designed to use an hybrid propulsion with diesel and electric engines, with Zero environmental impact, GREEN STAR homologation. The transmission is made through POD or IPS system for an higher thrust performance and, therefore, lower consumptions. At a correlate transmission with bow – stern thrust realize the PD (Dynamic position) with GPS control avoiding the use of the anchor in protected marine areas.
The electricity power on board is provided through photovoltaic cells, batteries, also with generators for greater requirements.
The hull of the Sevolution is realized with the Marine Engineering dept. of Federico II University of Naples, the forms, completely unconventional , greatly contribute to the efficiency of used power.
This series of yachts are designed for people want to live long on the sea, especially out from the port facilities, and, therefore, is provided with Gyro stabilizers system to reduce the stability at waves. These yachts are designed to be built with a great customization ability. The interior living area, like the outside areas, are free of any fitted furniture in order to let them to be customized with the best of furnishing industry.
The open fore and aft areas of the Baia Sevolution is protected by an awning system, the fly is used for tender area and sun pad (26.6 model); on the 29.6 model the access to the fly is also possible by an internal staircase that leads through a Pilot House to a closed area and a sun pad zone, after tender area.
The platform is highly structured and equipped, is extensible with the overturning of two lateral wings which increases the surface area of 40%. The middle part is movable, ie it goes down hydraulically to launch the jet skies stowed in the hangar and, anyway, to create a foreshore platform at 60 cm under the sea level.
Features and technical details of the Baia Sevolution yachts:
Speed over 22 Knots, 18Knots cruising speed at less 10% of maximum speed ,
16 Knots economy cruising at less 20% of maximum speed.
Cruising Range 1000 miles.
Hull efficiency to perform with low consumption.
Medium-range autonomy of 1000 miles at economy cruising speed of 16 Knots.
