The IPM Group has once again demonstrated their commitment to the environment as well as safety, with the blue flags received by three of its ports: Marina Ibiza, Marina Port de Mallorca and Marina Palma Cuarentena. Every year, the Spanish ports are honoured with the blue flag by the Association of environmental education ADEAC in order to encourage high principles of environmental information, education and management, together with the quality of services, security and water.
The ceremony took place in the Cala D´Or Marina with the President of ADEAC in charge, Mr. José Sánchez Moro and the General Director of Ports and Aeroports Antonio Deudero who were responsible for handing in the flags.
The criteria used for awarding the blue flag distinction are the creation of an environmental policy, actions related to the cleaning of the water, waste, energy consumption, security, health and the use of environmentally-friendly products. The IPM Group maintains the basic principles for caring about the delicate natural balance of the Balearic Islands and sharing this philosophy with their users through information about the flora and fauna as well as offering tips for taking care of the environment to all the vessels mooring in their ports.
Marina Ibiza and Marina Port de Mallorca renew their blue flags while Marina Palma receives this award for the first time. It should be noted that Marina Ibiza is the only port from this island which has achieved this accreditation this year. These three eco-friendly ports have green zones within its facilities where you can find containers to sort recyclables and hazardous waste, as well as facilities marked for pumping bilge water and waste.
With this distinction, the IPM Group, through Marina Ibiza, Marina Port de Mallorca and Marina Palma Cuarentena again show the quality of its services and its facilities, as well as its effective environmental control system.
