After a series of successful commercial vessel projects in the Asia Pacific region, BMT is reinforcing its presence, in order to expand into the region’s yacht market.
BMT Asia Pacific, based in Singapore and Hong Kong, is geographically well positioned to help deliver naval architecture and engineering services into the regions yacht builders. Richard Colwill, Managing Director of the Hong Kong office commented, “Having a physical presence in the region is key to providing focused customer service and leveraging the skills and experience of the company’s established team in the UK.”
In order to show its commitment to the region BMT has joined the Asia-Pacific Superyacht Association whose aim is to promote the Asia-Pacific region to the global superyacht community both as an exciting cruising destination and as a superyacht construction, refit and services location.
Speaking at the recent Asia Pacific Superyacht Conference in Singapore, James Roy, Yacht Design Director of BMT Nigel Gee presented a paper on Northern European Quality. James Roy commented, “There are many established brands in the Asia Pacific region which deliver quality yachts to rival anything produced in Europe or elsewhere in the world. However all of these are below 60m and scaling these skills to yachts of upwards of 80 or 100m will be a key challenge for the region if it wishes to enter this market”.
