SINGAPORE: On the back of a burgeoning economy and influx of high net worth individuals into the region, Boat Asia 2011 ended its 19th edition on a high note. In line with its reputation as a show with the record number of boat sales and quality buyers, Horizon, La Marca, Bayliner and Lagoon saw themselves taking orders for more than ten boats worth over $30 million over the four-day period.
Annie Lin, Managing Director, Horizon Yachts said, “Boat Asia 2011 was a great success for us. The biggest yacht on display at Boat Asia this year, the Horizon EP105, was bought by a Chinese client on the third day. Over the years, Boat Asia has successfully incorporated interesting lifestyle elements to go beyond being just a boat show for everyone. We will definitely be back next year with bigger boats.”
“I have witnessed the growth of Boat Asia over these years, and along with it, the emergence of a new market of people who have come to show interest in the boating lifestyle. We are seeing newer buyers of extreme quality and have Boat Asia to thank for playing a key role in creating a conducive environment for first-time boaters,” added Goh Kong Wee, Sales Director, Marina Bahari Raya.
Mr Gordon Hui, Managing Director, Sunseeker Asia, reiterated, “Boat Asia has been fantastic! The show is getting bigger and better every year.”
More than 10,000 quality visitors thronged the showgrounds during the four-day event. The superyacht segment also wowed visitors who managed to get up-close and personal with regal giants like the sleek Pershing 80, majestic Majesty 88, stylish Horizon E90 and luxurious Horizon EP105. Visitors to the show were also privy to an array of breath-taking yachts making their debut at the show, including the sporty Grady White Express 360, the sexy Azimut 38 and the innovative ZAR 97 Skydeck.
Upping the lifestyle ante, prestige brands including Nautica, Panasonic, Rubicon, Vertu and Xtra featured their top-end ranges along with exclusive lingerie and swimwear brand La Perla, which held a sensual on-water fashion show for their Brazilian inspired Spring/Summer 2011 swimwear collection. Speed demons also went wild over the Can-Am superbikes, and grabbed the opportunity to test drive the all-new Audi A7, a five-door coupe with the graceful look of a benchmark luxury sedan.
Mr. Herman Ho, Managing Director of TMX Show Productions Pte Ltd said “Though our visitor numbers remain similar to last year’s, we are definitely seeing an improvement in the quality of visitors from around the region. Boat Asia has established itself as the platform in Asia for leisure marine exhibitors to do business in the region and is recognized by sponsors, partners and exhibitors as a show through which to access discerning and qualified visitors. Industry players called it ‘the Boat Show with a difference’.”
The sponsors and partners for Boat Asia 2011 included Audi, DBS, Fullerton Bay Hotel, Mumm Champagne, La Perla, Harry’s, Nautica, Panasonic, Raffles Marina, RSYC, Vertu and Xtra.
